Appointments will be made of sportspersons considered meritorious with reference to the following criteria:
i. Sportsmen who have represented a State or the country in the National or International competition in any of the games/sports mentioned in para 2.
ii. Sportsmen who have represented their University in the Inter University Tournaments conducted by the Inter-University Sports Boards in any of the sports/games mentioned in para 2.
iii. Sportsmen who have represented the State School Teams in the National Sports/games for schools conducted by the All India School Games Federation in any of the games/sports mentioned in para 2.
iv. Sportsmen who have been awarded National Awards in Physical Efficiency under the National Physical Efficiency Drive.

Selection

The recruitment process will be in two phases. In the first phase, the eligible candidates will be shortlisted, as per their option of the post applied for, on the basis of their current form and achievement in sports and games.

The short listed candidates will be required to appear for the field trials at Chennai (at their own expense). In case any candidate is unable to attend / participate, whatsoever for any reason or having participated in the test is not found fit, he / she would not be considered for appointment.
